Amesbury Men’s Shed AGM

All Amesbury Men’s Shed Members are cordially invited to attend the 1st annual general meeting of the Amesbury men’s shed. All fully paid-up members may attend and participate in the event. It will take place on the 25th September 2026 at the Christ the King Church Hall starting at 19:15

Following the AGM we will have an informal drinks session at the Orchard pub.

Please see below for the outline agenda for the AGM. One of the major tasks for the AGM will be to elect the management committee for the men’s shed. The existing committee members all intend to stand for re-election. Any member may challenge for a position on the committee, such a challenge will have to be received in writing by the 11th of September 2026, all challenges must be sent to the secretary of the shed (see email below). Any challenger must have a proposer and seconder both of whom must be a member of the Amesbury men shed, in the event of a challenge for a position on the committee an election will take place during the AGM. The election will take the form of a secret ballot any member not able to attend will be able to cast their vote by sending an e-mail to the secretary prior to the AGM. Should there be no challenge to a particular position on the committee the existing committee member will automatically be re-elected unopposed without a vote.

Descriptions of committee roles

Chairperson

  • Leads the monthly committee meetings
  • Interfaces with other regional community groups
  • Arranges AMS representation at council events
  • Approves presentation materials used to promote AMS
  • Organises or delegates organisation for fund raising events.

Incumbent: Jeff Coy

Secretary

  • Acts as the administrative lead for the AMG
  • Takes the minutes for committee and AGM meeting
  • Publishes the minutes
  • Acts as a point of contact for all administrative issues
  • Ensures that AMS is operating within the legal framework for a UK charity.
  • Second signatory on AMS bank accounts

Incumbent: Hannah-Mae Trow

Treasurer

  • Responsible for all financial matters within the shed
  • Keeps the accounts for presentation to the committee and membership as required.
  • Is the primary signatory for all of the AMS bank accounts
  • Primary contact for all external donations to AMS (Material and financial)
  • Produces accounts for the shed in accordance with UK charity commission guidelines
  • Manages the shed’s Gift Aid account.

Incumbent: Alan Smith

Marketing

  • Responsible for production and distribution of all marketing material for AMS
  • Manages the shed’s social media presence
  • Manages and maintains the AMS website
  • Management and maintenance of IT and email systems

Incumbent: Oliver Scott-Ison

Health and Safety

  • Updates and maintains the sheds Health and Safety risk assessment documentation
  • Oversees the membership compliance with H&S documentation
  • Working with the workshop committee members to ensure that the minimum safe operating conditions are met whenever the shed is open. Specifically, the first aid cover
  • Reviews with the workshop committee any new equipment to ensure that safe operating practices are adopted.
    • This to include specific member training should it be deemed necessary to ensure safety.

Workshop Committee Chairperson

  • Leads the workshop management team.
  • Interfaces with the H&S representative to ensure that the shed is always compliant with the AMS Health and Safety policy.
  • Arranges the workshop committee meeting as a when required.
  • Runs or delegates the running of the workshop finance spreadsheet (currently delegated).
  • Recommends in conjunction with the workshop committee membership the purchase of any new machinery.
  • Recommends the inclusion of new members to the workshop committee.
